Wabtec's efforts to actively attract and support its veteran employees have been recognized. The VETS Indexes recently awarded Wabtec Corporation the prestigious 4 Star Employer designation in the 2024 VETS Indexes Employer Awards. This award acknowledges Wabtec's strong commitment to recruiting, hiring, retaining, developing, and supporting veterans and military-connected individuals.

According to George Altman, President of VETS Indexes, "Competition for the VETS Indexes Employer Awards was tougher than ever in 2024, as a record number of organizations participated. Even with hundreds of employers in the running, the veteran’s program at Wabtec Corporation stood out from the rest."

This year's VETS Indexes Employer Awards saw a significant increase in participation, with over 100 more organizations submitting completed surveys than the previous year, and nearly triple the number from two years ago. Of these applicants, VETS Indexes recognized 285 organizations across various award levels, demonstrating a clear dedication to the veteran community.

"Wabtec is honored to receive our first VETS Indexes' 4 Star Employer Award," said Alina Butler, Wabtec's Global Diversity & Inclusion Leader. "Veterans are an integral part of our workforce, bringing unique leadership and technical skills from their military experience that help drive innovation for our customers. We are dedicated to empowering our veterans and supporting their success in the workplace."

Wabtec supports its veteran and diverse employees through initiatives like Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). These employee-led and managed groups provide valuable forums for networking, mentoring, career development, and community investment. With approximately 2,700 global ERG members, Wabtec is leveraging the diverse experiences of its workforce to enhance inclusion and drive progress.

"Wabtec places significant emphasis on attracting, retaining, and reaching out to the veteran community because we believe our company's values, culture, global footprint, and impact on the transportation industry make it a natural home for veterans. This award recognizes our continuous efforts to prioritize talented veteran employees and provide them with the best possible culture and transition support. We are committed to staying connected with our veteran communities," said Marc Povondra, Vice President Life Cycle Cost Leader at Wabtec (Co-Lead of Wabtec’s Veteran ERG and USNR).
