Wabtec and UE 610 Reach Agreement on a Three-Year Contract

WILMERDING, PA (May 1, 2019) — Wabtec Corporation and the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America Local 610 today reached agreement on a three-year contract for the Wilmerding and Greensburg, Pennsylvania sites. The agreement positions the facilities to remain competitive in today’s challenging markets, while providing good wages, meaningful benefits and rewarding work for employees.

This agreement will enable our sites and employees to be successful for years to come.”

The contract, which was ratified by the UE 610 membership, maintains the competitive market-based wages that are in place at these locations and have helped each plant thrive. Under the contract, employees will receive a $0.60 per hour increase each year of the agreement. The contract also provides for incremental increases to employee health care contributions and establishes a streamlined process for filling job vacancies.

Contract negotiations remain underway with the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America Local 506 and 618 in Erie, Pa., where Wabtec has made complementary proposals for competitive market-based wages that would facilitate new jobs, stability and capital investment.

“We are pleased the UE leadership and members of Local 610 reached this collaborative agreement,” said Rich Krolczyk, Wabtec’s Erie plant manager. “The goal for the Erie site is the same – to drive competitiveness, while providing our employees good wages, strong benefits and stability. It is encouraging to see the Union’s endorsement that competitive, market-based wages work. They have helped make the UE plants in Wilmerding and Greensburg successful, and will work in Erie too.”
